Do you keep a content calendar?

2021 may have you reaching for the stars, but are you putting in the work to see the results you’re striving for? Many business owners today are looking to social media as a form of communicating with and marketing to potential customers. And one thing is for sure - social media isn’t going anywhere. If you’re looking to step up your social game, there’s only one way to succeed - planning ahead.

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE

First things first, establish a reasonable content goal to accomplish on a weekly basis. Sit down intentionally in a quiet space and decide how often you want to post and make sure it works with your schedule. Once you have made that decision, plan out which days of the week you want to publish your content & the time of day that your followers are most active.

DRAFT YOUR CAPTIONS & BRAINSTORM IDEAS

Find a notebook or open a word document to begin drafting your ideas! The more inspiration you find in daily life, the more relatable your content will be. Write down a moment when you learn something new when you have a heartwarming encounter in your business, or complete a seemingly mundane task that a customer may find interesting! From there, begin to draft your caption for the post!

CURATE YOUR CONTENT AND ESTABLISH YOUR CALENDAR

Once you brainstorm and establish what you want to post about for the month, it’s time to layout your content calendar! You can choose between a traditional paper and pen layout, or something techier like an online template. Physically fill out these empty pages to mentally commit to your content. Choose eye-catching photos, videos, or other forms of entertainment to help your post stand out.

DRAFT TRANSFER

Once you have your ideas and rough draft, it’s time to edit, schedule, and transfer to the world wide web! If you’re like normal business owners, time is most valuable. This step is two-fold, saving you time in the long run. While you are rewriting your copy, be sure to check for any edits with a fresh pair of eyes. You can use publishing tools for social media sites to make this process easier, so find the one that fits your needs. Finally, transfer your content from that idea in your head to a striking social media post. It only takes a little to go a long way!
