Holiday Marketing Ideas for your Small Business

‘Tis the season! The Holidays are upon us and as a small business, these last weeks of the year can make a big impact! Marketing holidays can be challenging but we’re here to help! Don’t procrastinate, it takes time to come up with your plan. Spend some time thinking through your strategy, make a plan, and execute it. Keep in mind what it would take for your small business to finish the year strong, and focus on that. Bring your team into the brainstorming process and you may be surprised at the creative ideas that are inspired!

“YOU’RE NOT A BIG BOX STORE, AND WE’RE GLAD YOU’RE NOT! ”

OFFER INCENTIVES

During the holiday season, your audience is used to deals like free shipping and gift wrap, and several other incentives and discounts. You’re not a big box store, and we’re glad you’re not! You still have a lot of holiday campaign ideas at your disposal, but a simple strategy is to offer incentives to draw people in. Even the temptation of 10% off can be a huge boost to your business.

HOST A GIFT GIVEAWAY ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Social media campaigns (think: giveaways and contests) are surefire ways to spark activity on your pages, plus you’re inviting new people to follow you year-round. Make sure you’re clearly communicating the rules and guidelines of your campaign so there aren’t any questions when you draw the winner.

DRESS UP YOUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

With minimal effort, you can sprinkle some holiday spirit into your digital space! Change up your social media platforms (and website?) with some holiday-specific colors. For example, if your logo is black and gray, maybe add a few accents of Holiday red for the last nine weeks of the year? Or add a little Santa hat or twinkly lights to the corner of your logo on posts. A little holiday cheer goes a long way.

EMAIL CAMPAIGNS- TAILORED FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Do you still send out emails on a regular basis? Be sure to keep your customer email list up to date. (And, if you don’t have your customers’ email address, start collecting them now!) Use email marketing to your advantage to keep your customers up to date! Feature holiday deals, gift guides, and specials you’re offering. If you have e-commerce on your website, this is a no brainer. Link to the products you’re featuring and watch your sales increase. Here is your chance to shine.

LOCAL FOCUS

Does your small business rely on in-person sales? If so, you’ve got to make sure you’re easy to find online! While people are out and about doing their Holiday shopping, make sure they can find you. Check out your Google listing and be sure all of your business’ details are accurate. Your name, location, website and phone number have got to be correct.

GIVE BACK

Many people are feeling generous during the Holiday season and it can be a great opportunity to give back to a local organization you’re passionate about. Commit to donating a portion of your sales to the organization you’ve chosen or maybe create a special bucket for people to donate directly to the good cause. You’re doing literal good in your community and you show the ‘heart’ of your small business by giving back to Jim an organization that’s making this world a better place.
